Personal Statement
My long-term research interest is studying adherence to treatment, its barriers, facilitators, and developing interventions to improve adherence to therapy in pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, and women living with infectious and chronic diseases, focusing on HIV and diabetes in resource-limited settings (RLS). I am a fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, a trainee of the Emory-Nigeria HIV Research Training program, and a Fogarty Global Health Fellow under the consortium of Harvard University, Boston University, Northwestern University, and the University of New Mexico (HBNU) and currently a scholar at the Leaders of Africa. Before working at the University, I worked in the hospital, pharmaceutical industry, and community pharmacy settings. I also founded an NGO, a platform used to execute community health projects and train professionals and grassroots healthcare providers to provide quality care in infectious diseases that affect public health. I was on the committee that produced the first Nigerian antiretroviral drugs guideline under the PEPFAR grant in 2023. My research efforts have been translated into twenty-seven peer-reviewed published manuscripts and thirty-seven abstract presentations at international and national conferences. One of my short-term goals is to convert current abstracts into full publications.
