Personal Statement

Dr. Aminat Asabi Oyawaluja is a Nigerian pharmacist and academic specializing in pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and natural products chemistry. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Lagos in 2008, followed by a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, graduating with distinction in 2013. She subsequently pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Pharmacognosy which was completed in 2023.

Dr. Oyawaluja serves as a Lecturer I in the Department of Pharmacognosy at the University of Lagos. Her research focuses on the phytochemical investigation of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants, particularly those used in the restoration of kidney functions. She has authored several academic publications covering topics such as antioxidant and in-vitro antidiabetic activities of fermented citrus peels, extraction and estimation of pectins from banana and plantain peels, and the chemical constituents of Nephrolepis exaltata leaves which were all published in reputable journal both locally and internationally.

Dr. Oyawaluja’s work has been recognized in academic circles, with citations reflecting her contributions to the field. She has participated in various asminstrative role both at the Department, Faculty and the University at large.
